Now is the time for Australian Christians to join together for action on climate change.
Climate disruption is already hurting the poorest people and communities and making hard lives harder.
Our Pacific neighbours face an existential threat, as sea level rise displaces communities and affects whole nations. More intense storms and cyclones, such as Typhoon Haiyan or Cyclone Pam, are devastating poor communities – destroying lives and livelihoods. Changes to rainfall are hurting subsistence farmers all around the world. Temperature extremes are melting glaciers more rapidly than ever and damaging people's access to the most precious resource – clean water.
As Christians in one of the world's wealthiest nations – with the highest per person greenhouse gas emissions of any developed country – we must stand with and speak for those affected by climate change.
"Love does no wrong to a neighbour" (Romans 13:10).
