Can you help us encourage your political representative Michelle Rowland MP?
Recently Michelle Rowland of Greenway has spoken on Australian aid and disaster relief for Fiji. We’d like to tell her the importance of Australian aid as this is perfect example of the benefit of aid and a reason to reverse the recent aid cuts.
In Parliament Michelle Rowland said:
There are some 35,000 people still sheltering in evacuation centres. That is 35,000 out of a population of around 900,000—so you get some idea of the scale. International aid agencies said supplies were being delivered but the scale of the damage to infrastructure, particularly jetties and communications equipment is making it so difficult, particularly in reaching those most remote islands and communities.

Whenever a politician engages with the issues we all care passionately about, it’s important to encourage, thank, or even challenge them. It doesn't mean we support that politician, or endorse everything they say. But if they don’t hear from passionate people in their electorate when they do speak up, it’s easy for them to give up, get cynical, or assume their electorate doesn’t care about Australian aid.
