Can you help us thank your political representative Kelvin Thompson MP?
Recently Kelvin Thompson of Wills has spoken on overcoming tax avoidance and we’d like to say thanks.
In Parliament Kelvin Thompson said:
I remember meeting with representatives of the Micah Challenge in Canberra in June last year as part of their Voices for Justice campaign and being briefed about the problems of tax evasion by multinational corporations, which deprived developing countries, on a significant scale, of vital revenue for poverty reduction and sustainable human development. Christian Aid has pointed out that, since 2008, developing countries have lost more than US$160 billion through multinational corporate tax evasion. This amount is actually bigger than the amount that these countries receive in aid, which amounted to US$120 billion in 2009.

Whenever a politician engages with the issues we all care passionately about, it’s important to encourage, thank, or even challenge them. It doesn't mean we support that politician, or endorse everything they say. But if they don’t hear from passionate people in their electorate when they do speak up, it’s easy for them to give up, get cynical, or assume their electorate doesn’t care about overcoming tax avoidance.
