You are invited to an Afternoon Tea in solidarity with our Pacific neighbours on Wednesday 15 June at 2:30pm
The aim of the Afternoon Tea is for church and community leaders to meet the candidates for the seat of Reid in the upcoming federal election, to voice your support for our Pacific neighbours and Australia’s role in supporting development and climate justice in the region.
The Afternoon Tea will include perspectives from young people from Pacific Island communities about how climate change is already affecting them, as well as opportunities to meet candidates in the Reid electorate* to emphasise our role as neighbours.
Guest speakers will include young people from Kiribati, Tuvalu and Sydney. We have invited candidates Craig Laundy, Angelo Tsirekas and Alice Mantel to attend and will invite other candidates as they are announced.
The event is organised by the Pacific Calling Partnership, Caritas Australia, the Edmund Rice Centre, Micah Australia and UnitingWorld.
*The Reid electorate ranges from Silverwater and Auburn in the West to Croydon, Five Dock and Drummoyne in the East.
