Pacific Australian Emerging Leaders Network

Who We Are

We are a network of emerging leaders from the Blue Pacific, bringing together young change-makers from the Pacific Islands, First Nations Australians, Pacific Diaspora, and other members of the extended Australian family.

We believe that the stories, the creativity, and the civic participation of young people in the Pacific region will be crucial in helping to build a safer, more just and sustainable future for our region. We are united by our faith and a shared commitment to holistic and sustainable development.

Our Network exists to foster relationships between emerging leaders across the Pacific and to build partnerships of mutual respect and trust between those leaders and key decision-makers across the region.

Young leaders are, and will continue to be, critical to the flourishing of their nations’ societies, ecologies, economies, and cultures. This belief drives the network’s mission to strengthen connections, amplify stories, and empower emerging leaders.

What We Do

Since 2022, we have gathered on the lands of Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples (Canberra, ACT) for a yearly Pacific Australian Emerging Leaders Summit.
During this time, delegates meet with key decision-makers and diplomatic representatives, sharing with them our vision for the region and our lived experiences of critical development areas.
Alongside this political engagement, the Summit provides an opportunity for deep connection, cultural learning, capacity building, worship and talanoa.
This group of delegates then becomes part of the Pacific Australian Emerging Leaders Network, where new members and alumni continue to share, connect and support one another, thereby cultivating strong and enduring ties among young emerging leaders across the Pacific.

“Our vision as a delegation is to see healthy environments, empowered young people, and flourishing communities. This is a vision that will only be realised in full when communities enjoy self-determination, when no one is left behind and when we engage in genuine partnership across our Blue Pacific.

This initiative is coordinated by Micah Australia and the Pacific Conference of Churches and supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade under the Pacific Church Partnership Program.
